How Many Pages A Resume Should Have

A number of recruitment professionals prefer a one-page CV that is compact, clear, concise, and relevant to the job because of the sheer volume of CVs they receive and the time it takes to sort them. However, this is not a rule of thumb, and you cannot sacrifice your CV’s readability to make it conform to any arbitrary “rules” about CV length. As Grant Cooper, president of Strategic Resumes notes in the resume Critique Writer software that he authored: “Brief resumes are simply no longer effective in today’s increasingly competitive job market,” he said. “The advice that ‘They only want to see one-page resumes,’ is perhaps the single most outdated and incorrect statement job-seekers hear today.”

Surveys show that employers who prefer a one-page CV are in the minority, and the situational view is prevalent, as Mark Gillespie, Certified Senior Account Manager, Management Recruiters/Sales Consultants of Arlington Heights says: ‘I have no problem with a 2 or sometimes even 3 page CV, if the candidate’s background and accomplishments warrant it. When they try to cram too much on a 1 page CV they end up reducing the font size and if they fax it you can’t read it most of the time. Also for more seasoned or highly talented people there is no way they can give you a good idea of what they have done in just one page, they always end up leaving too much out and if the CV has no substance then I just toss it.’

As writer Susan Britton Whitcomb discovered while researching her popular book, Resume Magic (JIST Works): “I conducted a survey of HR managers from some of the Top 100 Companies to Work for (from the book of the same name by Levering and Moskowitz),” Whitcomb relates. “One survey question asked their opinions as to the length of a resume.” The results revealed that 12 percent of respondents felt resumes should be “one-page, never longer;” 67 percent felt resumes should be “kept to one or two pages;” and 21 percent responded “as long as needed to convey the applicant’s qualifications.”

In today’s job market, a two-page CV is generally accepted as the norm, particularly if you are above entry-level but below the executive level. On average, CVs should not go beyond three pages. When designing your CV, you should always bear in mind that employers have a business to run. They are not in business to interview job applicants, and sifting through thousands of pages of CVs is a costly, time-consuming exercise to them.

Virtually every recruitment expert we spoke to indicated that each individual situation dictates CV length. From their expertise, we have developed some guidelines to help you determine the right length for your CV:
When to use one-page CVs
1. For recent university graduates and other entry-level job seekers, a one-page CV is recommended in the following circumstances:
If you do not have enough relevant experience to fill more than one page;
Your CV must meet a specific one-page requirement.
If the CV spills beyond one page, but you have less than a half a page of material for the second page, it may be best to condense the CV to one page.
2. If you are pursuing a career change, much of your experience may not be relevant to the new job.
Focus on the relevant skills you have obtained
Do not stretch your information to cover more than one page if you cannot relate it to your current goal in some way.
When to use two-page CVs
1. Some recent university graduates and entry-level job seekers may have the background and experience to qualify for a two-page CV, which is recommended in the following circumstances:

There is extensive relevant internship, summer-job, extracurricular, leadership, and sports experience that justify a two-page CV; and
There is no restriction on CV length.
2. A two-page CV is recommended for candidates above entry-level positions, but below the executive level.
When to use three or more page CVs
The average length of most technical CVs for IT professionals is 4.5 pages. This is because technical CVs contain additional sections such as ‘Technical Skills’ and ‘Certifications’ which are absent in other industries. In addition, if you are a senior-level manager/executive, your CV may require three or more pages. It is recommended that senior career people focus on the last 5-8 years of accomplishments rather than older experience that is not directly relevant to the targeted position.

As the job market becomes ever more competitive, you may need to use multiple pages to persuade a potential employer to grant you an interview. However, unless employers specifically ask for a one or two page CV, you should have as many pages as it is necessary to tell your story and yet keep it coherent, organised, relevant and interesting. If you are having problems formatting your CV into two or three pages, there are professionally designed CV templates available that can help you do that and at the same time, help you focus on quality and not quantity.

If you didn’t know, an English voice actor in previous Samurai and Dynasty Warrior games leaked it by listing SW3 in her resume. I’m sure DQX and ToG are coming as well. . reply edit reblog flag …. if third parties don’t sell on the wii it’s their own fault, for starters most of them aren’t even putting their bes projects and teams on it and then they expect to complain when they don’t sell as much? it’s like the outcome will always be the same and we’re walking in

… Ben Hosley, who conceived and executed this idea, we can present to you what New York’s resume might look like if she were applying for actual jobs based on her VH1 experience. After a glance, it’s probably for the bes .

Resume writing can seem like an intimidating task, but it’s actually easier than you think. Your resume only has one job to do: It must pique the interest of your potential employer. That’s it. It doesn’t have to tell your life story

Hope you enjoy the read as much as I did and please if you have something to say, use the comments form below to let everyone know your thoughts.

When drafting your resume, it is easy to fall into the habit of focusing on the past. After all, much of your resume will consist of a list of things you’ve donefrom positions you’ve held to special awards you’ve received to degrees you’ve attained. A resume is, in fact, a compilation of your professional and, in some cases, personal history. Therefore, admittedly, much of your resume will have sentences and clauses that are in the past tense.

And yet, a resume should also be a forward-looking document. In other words, it should not simply indicate where you’ve beenit should also inform a potential employer about where you’re headed. As a result, in order to craft

a truly effective resume, you must be somewhat futuristic in your thinking. This means clearly articulating your career goals within the text of your resume.

First Step: Define Your Goals

Placing your career goals on your resume can be quite a challenge if you do not have a clear idea of what those goals are. If you are in this position, you’re certainly not alone. Many of us have difficulty visualizing where we would like to be five or ten years down our career path. In a number of cases, this may be the result of selling ourselves short, thinking that the highest levels of achievement in our chosen field are closed to us because we are lacking in some areainterp

ersonal communication, written communication, decision-making ability, or other job skills which are critically important for managers.

However, if you talk with someone who has made significant progress in his or her career, you might be surprised to learn that this individual also faced feelings of inadequacy or believed that he or she was ill prepared for the job now held. Even sons and daughters of business owners often have to start out in entry-level jobs before they master the skills and expertise needed to

run a company. In other words, it would be wrong to assume that a corporate executive is inherently more talented or more intelligent than you are.

Through researchinterviewing executives, reading business magazines, and talking to members of professional organizations that you belong toyou should be able to develop a clearer idea of what your career goals are. Perhaps you would like to secure a managerial position…maybe you’d like to teach at the college level…or perhaps you would like to own your own company some day. Jot both immediate and long-term goals down on paper so you have some idea what kind of information you’d like to convey on your resume.

Showcase Your Goals

Once you have defined your career goals, it is important that you showcase them on your resume. Of course, there are various schools of thought about how to highlight career goals most effectively. Which approach you ultimately decide to take depends on a number of factors: what your colleagues and mentors consider to be most effective; what you yourself are comfortable with; and what is the most appropriate approach for the position you’re attempting to pursue.

One effective means of spotlighting your career goals is by placing them under a ‘Career Objective’ category in your resume. This category affords you the opportunity to clearly articulate the direction in which you’d like your career path to go. If you have more than one career goal to list, it’s perhaps most effective to list your goals in bullet-point format.

But there are also some other creative ways you can indicate your career goals on your resume. For instance, in the supplemental information you provide for each position you’ve held, you can indicate how that particular jobor the duties that came with ithelped to move you toward your career goal. As with all the other text in your resume, this information should be stated clearly and succinctly. A simple phrase can inform a prospective employer about how a position aided you in developing the skills needed for achieving your career goals.

Avoid the Temptation of Omitting Critical Information

Unfortunately, some job seekers become so focused on their career goals that they feel that they have to radically alter their resumes in order to demonstrate their dedication to their goals. Such an approach is sure to backfire because it creates a resume that is misleading. When an employer discovers that you have omitted key information, he or she may be understandably reluctant to hire you.

For instance, consider the following scenario: You’ve just learned about a position that is available at a highly-respected company known for its fantastic promotion policies, benefit packages, and other perks. This is exactly the type of job you’d like to havenot only because of the opportunities it presents, but also because it would help you immensely in accomplishing your long-term career goals.

You decide that a resume re-draft is absolutely essential. However, when you begin the re-writing process, you decide to give a major makeover to the ‘Experience’ section of your resume. You eliminate every job that does not directly relate to your career goal. By ’streamlining’ your resume, you hope to increase your chances of securing the position you desire.

Unfortunately, things in the business world are not that simple. By omitting references to certain jobs in your resume, you are doing a disservice to your employerand to yourself. You are making it appear as if you’ve been headed in the same direction throughout your career when, in fact, your career might have taken a number of twists and turns. In addition, your streamlining has resulted in the appearance of serious gaps in your work history. If a would-be employer believes that you were unemployed for long periods of time, he or she may simply place your resume in the reject pile.

Be Open-Minded

Recognize that your career goals can change throughout your employment. As a result, you may need to tinker with the career goals text in your resume every so often. This is not an admission of defeatrather, it is simply an indication that, as your work experience broadens, your ultimate objectives may evolve, taking you along paths you never dreamed possible.

Tips for Effective Resume Writing

Writing an effective resume is the most important thing for gaining an interview call in today’s competitive world. Here are some tips that would help you in writing an effective resume.

Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a document that creates the first impression on prospective employers, without any personal interaction with the applicant. It reflects your attitude towards the job that you are seeking and helps to portray your talents as an efficient source for the organization. Before starting to write a resume, one must remember that there will definitely be many resumes the organization or company is going to receive. You have to write a resume in such a way that it stands out from the many mediocre and boring resumes.

A resume is the means to get an interview call and not a job. So, remember that you do not have to write your life history. Highlight important points only, about yourself, that would entice the employer to call you for an interview. The rest of the details can be given after you get an interview call.

While writing a resume, keep in mind that you are writing an advertisement for a product that is to be sold, and that product is none other than yourself. Your resume should attract the person reading it, tagging you as a prospective candidate.

Tips for effective Resume Writing

Planning is very important in the process of writing a resume. Write down the key points that you would like to highlight. You should remember that you are branding yourself and should focus on the needs of the employer rather than your own.

Begin your resume with a title or heading that describes the kind of job you are looking for. This could be followed by your full name and contact details.

After this comes the objective which is one of the most important part of your resume. Here you have to focus on your qualities, abilities, achievements and skills that would prove beneficial for the job you are applying. Do not make the mistake of listing your abilities and qualities, rather write it in a sentence form that does not extend more than 2-3 lines.

Then comes your educational qualifications and past job experiences. Write them in a chronological order, giving a little description about each. For eg. in case of educational qualifications, you can mention the degree, the year of pass out, the institution and your score in percentage. Likewise, in case of the past job experiences, you can write the company’s name and your position and responsibilities carried out by you in the company. Do not mention your previous salary and the reason for leaving a company. This could be explained during the interview.

After your qualifications and experiences, comes the accomplishments and rewards you have achieved in your professional life. This would help the employer to understand that you are a capable person and can handle responsibilities given to you.

The last part of your resume is mentioning your personal details, hobbies and interests. Do not bombard your resume with unwanted details. Remember that each resume is read only for 15-20 seconds, and to grab the attention of the reader within these seconds, your resume should be short, simple and precise.

After writing a resume, do not forget to proof read it thoroughly. You can also ask your friends or family to proof read it and suggest some valuable changes. Choose a font size that is readable and format your data well. Silly mistakes in your resume can create a bad impression.

Many resumes are rejected because they do not have an appropriate covering letter that introduces your CV. Attaching a covering letter is very essential, even if the resume is sent through an e-mail.

There are several minute details that you have to keep in mind while writing a resume. Instead of writing in paragraphs, use bullet points which makes reading easy. Your resume should not be more than 1-2 pages.

As you are selling yourself in your resume, there is no place for modesty here. But, that does not mean you can bluff or lie. Be honest and give only correct information.

Writing a resume is an art that takes a lot of time and hard work to design it to be the perfect one. Many consider resume writing as a difficult and tiring task and send a very mediocre resume. However, it is important to take efforts and write a well planned resume as it reflects the fact that you are hard working, perfectionist and very serious about your career.

Font selection for your resume can make a difference in the search for your next job. It should direct the reader across the page smoothly while showcasing the information you want to convey. By following these guidelines, you will avoid reader frustration that could potentially sabotage your efforts.

A vital concept to embrace is restraint. In order to make an impression and stand out from the crowd, you may be tempted to use a loud, decorative font. Unfortunately, the only impression these fonts will make is an unprofessional one.

Stick to simple serif or sans serif fonts. Serif fonts have small flourishes and the end of the characters and convey a more formal and refined look. Examples include Times New Roman, Garamond, Palatino and Bookman. Sans serif fonts do not possess the flourishes of their counterpart and are noted for their clean, contemporary look. Examples of these fonts include Arial, Helvetica, Tahoma and Futura.

Do some research on your potential employer to find out a bit about their corporate culture. While this is also a good idea when preparing the content of your resume, it can also assist in selecting an appropriate font. Find out if the organization is more traditional or progressive in their approach, and choose a font accordingly.

Confine your selection to two fonts maximum. This will allow your resume to maintain a sense of consistency, making for a better reading experience. One font could be used for headings, while the other is used for body text. However, a visual hierarchy can be maintained with just one font. Changes in size and style can differentiate your headings from your body text.

Boldface and italics should be used sparingly. In fact the use of only one such font styling in your body text is recommended. By using only one of these styles to highlight important information, you maintain the impact of its use. Using too much font styling dilutes the impression that it makes.

The size of your fonts should make your text readable without being too garish. Generally speaking, keep your font size between 10-12 points. The readability of fonts at different sizes will vary, so experiment to discover which size suits your needs.

Your resume may be scanned by a potential employer for entry into a database. This process uses Optical Character Recognition, or OCR, to translate a printed page into electronic data. Making your resume scannable will avoid any errors if your information is entered into a computer in this manner. Italics can be a problem for older scanning software. OCR software has problems when any two characters touch each other, so make sure your font does not do so.

Choosing a common font will help you avoid formatting glitches. Many employers request a resume in Microsoft Word format. If the font you used when you created your resume is not installed on the reader’s computer, it will default to another font. This can play havoc with spacing and other formatting issues. Fonts such as Arial, Courier New, Georgia, Palatino, Tahoma, Times New Roman, and Veranda are common among varying computers and operating systems.

A font for your resume is more than decoration. It can be a vital tool in clearly presenting your qualifications to an employer. Choose wisely to make the best impression.

The Importance Of A Resume And How To Get Started… To Get Noticed.

Copyright 2006 Emmanuel Segui

Studies show that the average hiring manager spends approximately 20 seconds looking at your resume. Facts say 10 seconds. The truth is, you have minimal chance to get noticed and get the interview if your resume doesn’t stand out from the crowd.

In the past five years resumes have changed dramatically thanks to the Internet. The electronic resume, one of the newest resume upgrades, has changed the application process and resume writing as a whole. An effective resume in this decade must be written with scannable keywords in mind, as it is commonly scanned into a job board or publication database where thousands of potential employers can view it and then download it. The response the candidate receives from their resume writing is no longer assumed to be a phone call – it may in fact be an e-mail.

If the candidate is applying online she or he is often able to upload the resume she’s writing in a word processing format such as Word, or cut and past it to the online application. There are even templates the allow job candidates to write their resumes from scratch right on the site.

Keep in mind, as you are writing your resume, that the simplest and most common format for saving a resume file is with the help of a word processor like Microsoft Word or Open Office. These software will capture the various bolds and fonts, as well as italics and indentations.

http://wjc55.gjobnow.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=RESUME

Resume writing, though in a very different version than is now used, came into being around the 1930’s. Prior to that, candidates filled out an Application for Position that most resembled the curriculum vitae used by professionals today and in Europe. It was used in conjunction with a cover letter, with work experience noted in chronological order. It also included much personal biography. In the 1930’s the theory from hiring professionals and educators was that applicants should not look conceited by bragging about their accomplishments.

Up until the late 1940’s a resume was expected to include your age, your weight, your height and your parents country of origin. You were also to include a photo of yourself in professional attire such as a suit.

It wasn’t until the 1980’s, however, that books and periodicals really started to talk about resume writing. Now there is a lot of advice out there in print and on the Web, not only about resume writing but resume writing specific to your situation or industry.

Competition is fierce and resume writing has changed. You don’t need ‘resumes’ anymore but ‘Attention Grabbing Resumes’. This is the only way for you to get noticed and get the interview, fast, without sending hundreds and thousands of resumes throughout the country.

You must assume as you write and design your resume, that it will be scanned as well as manually read. For this reason your layout should be clear, without lines or borders, with large top, bottom, left and right margins, on white or off white paper and your name and contact information should be centered at the top of the resume. Further keeping in mind the current electronic processing of resumes, you should be always cognizant of keyword search, making sure that your resume is replete with the skill words that are required for the job. That’s the first step.

10 Resume Writing Tips To Land Your Dream Job

Imagine yourself sitting in an employer’s desk with hundreds of resumes falling in on your desk against a vacancy declared by you in your company.

Number of vacancy – 1, and number of applicants – innumerable.

As an employer it is your responsibility to select the most deserving, suitable and competent candidate. So it is up to the candidate to snatch the employer’s attention out of those hundreds of resume application. As such, writing a resume is all about knowing what employers specifically look for in an applicant’s application. So, never make the mistake of underestimating the importance of a “good and eye-catching resume”.

Now, a good and a perfect resume is not an allegory. Neither has it anything to do with the elite schools or exceptional work experience. A blue collar worker may have a exceptional CV, while the resume of a white collar professional may have a poorly written one. A good resume is your first step at the door of a good job; you must well-understand that it is your representative to an employer before you get there. A resume centers round the detailed info about a candidate that is truthful, brief and to the point; not something that is exaggerated or unnecessarily long.

http://wjc55.gjobnow.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=RESUME

There are certain things that a good and perfect curriculum vita has within its set margins.

1.First of all, decide the format of your resume. Decide whether you want it to be in a functional or chronological format.
2.Write your resume in active verbs.
3.Highlight your skills and objectives. Make it your resume headline.
4.Be specific about your professional background. If you are an experienced person, mention your tenure with previous employers; and in case you are a fresher, define your professional qualifications.
5.Define your current pay scale. And don’t forget to put down your expected salary.
6.If your CV is targeted towards a specific career path or employer, then you must know all their requirements and mention them in your resume very clearly. Research and know the qualities that will prove to be beneficial to the employer and think about how your capabilities match those qualities.
7.Next, be particular to provide every minute personal detail. Highlight your contact details.
8.Be professional, concise, brief and clean. Avoid from being too flashy with your resume design.
9.Stick to writing one page cover letter as far as possible.
10.Last but not the least, be sure to edit and re-edit your resume once you are done with writing it.

Remember, the objective of your resume is to unleash your accomplishments and qualifications to the employer’s committee. Think it to be a promotional brochure, a pamphlet displaying your organizational and career skills.

9 Resume Writing Tips

When you write your resume this is the first impression of you that your potential employer gets. So writing a resume that makes you stand out would be a big plus for you. Yes?

Tip 1

First write out everything about your experience, special talents, training and what makes you unique. Keep in mind the position you are looking for so you can tailor your final write up using these notes.

Tip 2

Sell yourself to your prospective employer. Use powerful statements about your talents.

Tip 3

Make sure that you show that you have the job knowledge. Write notes as to why you would be the best person for the job before you write your resume.

Tip 4

Use powerful words such as, achieved, appraised, compiled, determined, reorganized, supervised, suggested, tested, just to name a few.

Tip 5

Avoid using the words work history or employment in your experience section. Instead use professional history or professional experience.

Tip 6

In your education section, begin your list with your latest credentials first and work your way backward. Bold or highlight courses or degrees that would relate to the job you are applying for.

Tip 7

If possible do your best to find out who will be reviewing your rsum’s and address each one to them personally in your cover letter.

Tip 8

Be careful not to ramble. Keep focused. Stay on topic. Talk about your career and always be truthful about the statements you are making. Any untruths or white lies will come up and bite you…

Tip 9

Do use the best paper and printer for your resume. If you are doing it yourself there is special resume paper and envelopes available at the large office supply stores. There is a chapter in the book “Think and Grow Rich” which actually addresses the issues about making yourself stand out with the presentation of your resume.

Resume Writing For A Highly Competitive Job Market

Most job hunters already know that a resume is a must when it comes to applying for jobs and getting potential employers to take notice, but unfortunately, most resumes are just not up to par. People actively seeking employment often fail to create an effective resume that will impress hiring managers and land interviews.

And yet, in today’s vigorous job market, at a time when layoffs are the norm and competition for jobs is cutthroat, it’s more important than ever that your resume catch the eyes of the recruiter or resume screener, who may spend no more than 30 seconds on each resume during the initial selection process. This is why your resume has to be more than a document listing your various accomplishments and achievements – it must be a successful marketing tool.

A poorly constructed resume merely lists the applicant’s job history, using bullets to state past responsibilities, and entirely neglects to take advantage of marketing techniques that make a resume stand out from the crowd. You might be the hardest-working, most responsible individual around, but if your resume doesn’t make that clear, what will distinguish you from everyone else applying for the job, in the eyes of the hiring manager?

To avoid turning in a resume that blandly lists your qualities and work history, you must transform it into an accomplishment-driven piece of writing that clearly emphasizes the importance and relevance of each accomplishment.

It may not be easy to do this, but if you approach the process step-by-step, and use the basic sections of the resume to market your abilities, experience, and potential value to the employer, reworking your resume into a marketing machine is an attainable feat.

Starting From the Top

Arguably the most important part of the resume is the first three quarters of the page. Recruiters and screeners have to wade through stacks of resumes, so they tend to scan the first part of the first page to pare down the pile, initially. If you want to survive the preliminary cut, this section of your resume should be full of accomplishments that market your particular skills and capabilities to the specific employer and position.

Of course, your name and contact information appear in this section as well, but you should also include a professional summary in addition to, as mentioned above, the list of accomplishments.

Professional Summary

A professional summary is considered by many resume experts to be more effective than a stated ‘objective,’ in today’s job market. It works as a sturdy introduction to a strong resume, and proves more powerful in the face of the 30-second scan because it offers the recruiter a snapshot of your most important attributes.

Use the summary as a short ad all about you. Include information in the first sentence or two regarding the type of position you’re looking for, and make it clear why you are different or better than the other applicants vying for the same position.

The final three or four sentences should identify your expertise and abilities that apply to the job in question. Make it clear why you can be an asset to the company! Acting as an introduction to the rest of your resume, the statements made in the professional summary need to be reinforced in the sections of the resume that follow.

Accomplishments

The accomplishments you decide to highlight in this section are important because past performance is a good indicator of what you can do for the company, if hired. Mentioning successes you have scored in the past is your best bet to landing an interview.

Just be sure to select 3-6 accomplishments that relate directly to the position you seek and make them quantifiable and measurable – provide answers to questions such as how many/much? Which one? What kind? This will add substance to the facts you have stated.

The best way to determine what accomplishments to list here is to think from the perspective of the employer. Recruiters want to know why you could be an asset to the company – perhaps you will save them time and money, or provide another favorable result? Highlight accomplishments that draw attention to your past successes in applicable areas of expertise.

The Body

This section of the resume profiles your professional experience. Here you make note of the companies you have worked for in the past, along with your title/position and the dates of employment (in years).

But be wary of falling into the trap of simply listing off your work experience. Even in this section of the resume, it’s extremely important to avoid compiling an inventory of job duties. Companies are interested in much more than surface achievements or responsibilities – they are looking for people who can translate success achieved in past jobs to a future position. Make it clear what you can contribute to the employer.

For instance, if your past role was that of ‘manager,’ make it clear that this involved leading a team of people and successfully motivating them to complete tasks on budget and on time. If you worked as a cashier or bank teller, note that you were trusted with money and worked well in a customer service capacity. Any awards you won can also be stated in this section – just remember to quantify every statement you make!

Education

The final section of the resume lists educational information, as well as anything else that might be considered professional experience, such as continuing education, seminars, and other classes you have taken that are applicable to the job. Here you can also draw attention to any professional organizations and affiliations you belong to, as well as civic duties you perform and volunteer experience you have accumulated over the years, as long as it relates to the position you are attempting to win.

Always list the last degree completed first, without mentioning dates. For those with a college degree, there is no need to mention high school, as this will be assumed.

No one said job hunting was simple, so it’s important to do as much as possible to get your foot in the door. By using your resume as a powerful marketing tool, it will be much easier to successfully launch your career and snag the dream job you’ve always wanted.

Tips Towards Professional Resume Writing

Professional resume writing involves righting skills towards resume writing and preparation of covering letter. A professionally written resume is considered to be an excellent tool to achieve the desirable job. A basic resume should include headings, objectives, education and work experiences. Personal references can be provided on request. A professional written resume will increase the chances for the candidate to get called for an interview. This is the first important step towards being selected for the job. Otherwise, the candidate with poor resume may be rejected by the employer by discarding his or her resume without wasting any further time. Hence, it is important to impress the attention of a potential employer during the CV (curriculum Vitae) short listing process. Some of the important points to be considered while writing a professional resume are as follows:

1)Have a good cover letter:
A cover letter is an important part towards professional writing. People of ten fail in the job selection since they apply with their CV but without a covering letter.
A CV should always be accompanied by a cover letter. An employer would initially like to judge you on the basis of a good cover letter. A cover letter indicates your capabilities towards being fit for the company. An employer would prefer to learn more from a good cover letter than a well written CV.

2)Compare your resume with your skills and expertise:
Create your resume by first being clear on your goal by asking yourself what job are you qualified to do. Your goals should be specific relating to the type of industry, position, title and future professional achievements. Make your objective clear enough, in order to compose your resume by highlighting your skills and expertise in your specific area of interest.

3)Choose a format for your resume:
Once you are clear and done with your carrier objective, you then need to spend some time on doing research towards resume formats. Select a suitable resume format that highlights your skills. You can use the internet for searching sample resumes that are similar to your industry.

4)Use your personal information in a proper manner:
Your personal information should be mentioned towards the top of your resume. Your personal information will include your name, address, home, telephone or mobile number including your email address. However, your email address should preferably contain your name. Never use an email which are created with casually written like cool4u@yahoo.com

5)List your employment experience in the right order:
Always list your employment experience in a chronological order consisting of your present position. You can provide up to five previous jobs. However, never create gaps in your employment history.

6)List your education information from the latest position:
When listing your education information, you can begin with your college and other recent accomplishments.

7)Overall layout for your CV should be as follows:
1)Try to create your resume within two A4 size pages.
2)Preferably use a bond paper compared to ordinary paper.
3)Stick to Ariel based font or simple font.
4)Use bullet points wherever necessary and always use short sentences.
